July 2026 Newsletter
I’m back from an incredible adventure in Alaska, and I can honestly say this trip reminded me once again why I love exploring destinations firsthand. During the land and sea journey, I experienced so much of what makes Alaska special. I visited the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, explored the wilderness of Denali, and even took a Fat Truck adventure and spotted moose. In Juneau, I went whale watching and hiked to Mendenhall Glacier, and in Skagway I took a waterfall boat ride through some truly spectacular scenery. I also enjoyed a lumberjack show and an all you can eat crab feast, because no Alaska adventure would be complete without some great food and a little fun along the way!
What I love about traveling to Alaska is that every day brings something completely different. One day you are watching wildlife in its natural habitat, the next you are standing beside a massive glacier or cruising through breathtaking scenery. I saw incredible wildlife, experienced the rugged beauty of Alaska, and learned just how much there is to explore beyond the cruise ship. Having experienced this itinerary for the second time, I now have an even better understanding of which excursions are worth adding, how much time to allow in each destination, and what types of experiences are the best fit for different travelers.
While I won’t be hosting a Travel with Anne group to Alaska in 2027, I have secured group space on a similar land and sea tour for June 2027. This gives you the opportunity to experience Alaska with a combination of a land adventure and a cruise, just as I did. If Alaska has been on your bucket list, now is the time to start thinking about it. Group space is limited, and I would love to help you experience this incredible destination for yourself! Contact me soon to secure your spot.
I’m looking ahead to 2027, and my travel calendar is starting to take shape! In September, I’ll be traveling with my Travel with Anne group to the Amazon and Machu Picchu in Peru. Then, in November, I’m heading north to Churchill, Manitoba, Canada, for an incredible experience I’ve been looking forward to for a long time: staying at a Tundra Buggy Lodge and seeing the polar bears in their natural environment.
I’m currently looking at ideas for my spring 2027 travels. There are so many places I want to explore, and I’m having a hard time choosing where to go next! Where do you think I should go this coming spring?
Destination Highlight: Churchill, Manitoba – Up Close with Polar Bears
Churchill, Manitoba, is one of the world’s most extraordinary destinations for wildlife lovers and adventure seekers. Located along the shores of Hudson Bay, this remote Canadian community is best known for its incredible polar bear viewing opportunities. Each fall, polar bears gather near Churchill as they wait for Hudson Bay to freeze, creating an unforgettable opportunity to see these magnificent animals in their natural environment. Specialized tundra vehicles allow travelers to safely venture into the wilderness for close-up encounters, while knowledgeable local guides share fascinating insights about the bears and the unique Arctic ecosystem.
The adventure extends beyond polar bears, with opportunities to see Arctic foxes, caribou, beluga whales, and a variety of birdlife depending on the season. Summer brings thousands of beluga whales into the Churchill River, while autumn is prime time for polar bear viewing. The journey to Churchill is part of the adventure, often involving flights from Winnipeg and specialized wildlife excursions once you arrive. For travelers who have already experienced traditional safaris, Churchill offers a completely different kind of wildlife adventure and the rare chance to witness polar bears roaming freely across the Arctic landscape.
I love hosting group trips. Here is where I am heading in the coming year(s).
