If You Loved Harry Potter Go Here...

…England & Scotland

Few movie series have created a world as recognizable as Harry Potter. From the moment Harry arrives at Hogwarts to magical shops, grand castles, mysterious forests and dramatic train journeys, the films turned England and Scotland into a real-life version of the Wizarding World.

The best part? Many of the places that inspired or appeared in the films can actually be visited. You can walk through filming locations, ride the train that inspired the Hogwarts Express, explore historic castles and experience the atmospheric streets and villages that helped bring the wizarding world to life.

If You Loved the Movie, Go Here...

A Harry Potter inspired trip is perfect for travelers who love history, castles, beautiful countryside and a little bit of magic. You won't find Hogwarts exactly as it appears in the movies, but you'll find plenty of places that will make you feel like you've stepped into the Wizarding World.

Travel Inspiration

  • Warner Bros. Studio Tour London
Step behind the scenes of the Harry Potter films with original sets, costumes, props and special effects. Walk through the Great Hall, explore Diagon Alley and see the Hogwarts Express.

  • King's Cross Station, London
Visit the real King's Cross and look for the famous Platform 9¾. You can even take a photo with the luggage trolley disappearing through the wall.

  • Leadenhall Market, London
This beautiful Victorian market was used as the entrance to the Leaky Cauldron in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

  • Oxford
Oxford University provided some of the most memorable Hogwarts interiors. Visit Christ Church, whose staircase and Great Hall helped inspire the magical world of Hogwarts.

  • Lacock Abbey, Wiltshire
Several rooms at this historic abbey appeared as Hogwarts classrooms and corridors, including locations associated with Professor Quirrell and Professor Snape.

  • Alnwick Castle, Northumberland
One of the most recognizable Harry Potter locations, Alnwick Castle was used for Hogwarts exterior scenes and Harry's first flying lesson.

  • Gloucester Cathedral
The cathedral's medieval cloisters became Hogwarts corridors. Walking through them is an especially atmospheric experience in the fall.

  • Edinburgh, Scotland
J.K. Rowling spent years writing the Harry Potter books in Edinburgh, and the city is filled with Harry Potter connections. Visit Victoria Street, Greyfriars Kirkyard and the Elephant House area while exploring the city.

  • Glenfinnan Viaduct, Scotland
One of the most iconic Harry Potter sights. The Jacobite Steam Train crosses the viaduct, creating the scene many fans recognize as the Hogwarts Express journey.

Eat

No Harry Potter trip would be complete without trying some traditional British favorites.

Look for fish and chips, steak and ale pie, bangers and mash, afternoon tea and sticky toffee pudding. And, of course, you can raise a glass of butterbeer at Harry Potter themed experiences and attractions.

Create Your Own Harry Potter Moment

Take a train through the Scottish Highlands, wander through a medieval castle, explore an old university town or simply walk the atmospheric streets of Edinburgh on a cool autumn evening. Add a Harry Potter soundtrack to your playlist and you've got your own little bit of movie magic.

You don't need a Hogwarts letter to find a little magic in England and Scotland.
