Are you a vacationer or a traveler? I often talk with clients about what they really want from their time away, because there is a big difference between taking a vacation and taking a trip. And honestly, there is no right or wrong answer! Some people are vacationers. They want to leave the cold weather behind, sit by a beautiful pool, enjoy a great meal, and have absolutely nothing on their schedule. An all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean or Mexico can be the perfect vacation for them. Relaxation is the goal, and there is nothing better than coming home feeling completely refreshed.

Then there are travelers. These are the people who want to explore, experience, taste, learn, and see something new. They may be perfectly happy getting up before sunrise for a safari, spending the day exploring a new city, hiking to a viewpoint, or trying foods they've never tasted before. A safari in Africa is a great example. You aren't going to sit by the pool all day. You're getting up early, riding through the bush looking for wildlife, getting dusty, and wondering what you'll discover around the next corner. It can be tiring, but those experiences are often the ones you remember for a lifetime.

As a travel advisor, one of the most important things I do is figure out which type of traveler you are. Some clients want a little of both, perhaps a week exploring Italy followed by a few days relaxing on the coast. Others want adventure from beginning to end. When I understand what makes you excited about travel, I can recommend the destination, resort, cruise, or itinerary that truly fits you. My job isn't just to find you a place to go. It's to help you have the kind of trip that feels right for you.

I had my first booking into 2028 this past month. It seems so far out, but it will be 2027 before we know it. If you have travel plans on the horizon, now is the time to start planning. Some of the most popular trips should be booked well in advance.

• Alaska Cruise Tours: Book now for the best selection of cruise tours, cabins, and land arrangements for 2027.
• Cruises: Popular ships, itineraries, and preferred cabins can sell out early, especially for holiday, Alaska, Europe, and specialty cruises. Start planning 12–18+ months ahead when possible.
• All Inclusive Resorts: Ideally book 9–10 months in advance for the best selection.
• Europe 2027: Start planning and booking 10–11 months ahead, particularly for peak summer travel.
• Expedition Travel: Plan as early as possible. Small expedition ships have limited cabins, and popular itineraries can fill well over a year in advance. 2027 and 2028 options are available now.

If you already have a destination in mind, let’s start the conversation now. Early planning gives us the best opportunity to secure your preferred dates, accommodations, cabins, and experiences.

Destination Highlight: Amalfi Coast, Italy – La Dolce Vita Along the Mediterranean

The Amalfi Coast is one of Italy’s most iconic destinations, where dramatic cliffs meet the sparkling Mediterranean and colorful villages seem to tumble down the mountainside. The charming towns of Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello each offer their own character, from Positano’s steep, winding streets and beautiful beaches to Amalfi’s historic cathedral and Ravello’s spectacular gardens overlooking the sea. Travelers can take a scenic drive along the famous coastal road, explore by boat, or simply slow down and enjoy the views over a leisurely Italian meal.

Beyond the scenery, the Amalfi Coast is a destination made for savoring. Enjoy fresh seafood, handmade pasta, locally grown lemons, and the region’s famous limoncello. Day trips to Capri, Pompeii, or the island of Ischia can add even more variety to a stay, while a boat excursion at sunset is a wonderful way to experience the coastline from the water. Whether your clients are looking for romance, relaxation, history, or exceptional food, the Amalfi Coast captures the very best of the Italian way of life and offers an unforgettable taste of la dolce vita.

I love hosting group trips. Here is where I am heading in the coming year(s).
