What to Do in Costa Rica

I had a trip to Costa Rica planned for mid 2020 that tragically had to be cancelled. Costa Rica is full of action and adventure. From volcanos to White water rafting to rain forest to hanging bridges to wildlife there is something for everyone to enjoy. You can enjoy Costa Rica on your own or with a group tour. I can’t wait to get this trip back on the calendar.

Arenal Volcano Hiking

Enjoy the most extraordinary view of the Arenal Volcano on a hike along the base of this marvelous “Mountain of Fire”. Begin on the active side of the volcano that takes you through the forest over recent lava flows, and to the destroyed area, now in the process of regeneration. Get as close as five hundred meters from the lava flows.

White Water Rafting on the Sarapiqui River

This stunning rainforest river is an excellent choice for a first rafting trip in Costa Rica. The scenery is spectacular, the rapids are moderate, and the wildlife would have any Audubon Society member babbling ecstatically. The lush vegetation and thick tree canopy along the narrow, winding river are home to toucans, cormorants, kingfishers, howler monkeys, hummingbirds and much more.

Hanging Bridges

Enjoy a trek on the famed hanging bridges at Monteverde, a combination of suspension bridges and platforms built in the cloud forest tree tops. By having the opportunity to be next to these host trees you can experience, up-close, the amazing biodiversity and understand how the Cloud Forest truly is co-dependent on its environment. In addition to the pleasure of walking through the forest the hanging bridges give you a special insight into how the forest functions.

Sloth Hike

You could say that the sloths are one of our emblematic animals of the fauna of Costa Rica. These small and gracious friends are particularly beautiful, owners of tenderness with an eternal smile that makes it seem that he is always happy. Well, apparently they are very happy because nothing stresses them. This trail is also very diverse in birds, so as to complement a morning or afternoon full of wildlife, we could appreciate many species of local birds.

Coffee and Chocolate Tour

The Don Juan Coffee Tour in Monteverde Costa Rica offers an interesting opportunity to learn about coffee and Costa Rican folklore. During the coffee tour, participants will learn about the history, cultivation, and operation of a functioning coffee 'beneficio'. Visitors will have a chance to pick coffee and take part in the different steps involved in coffee production.

Afterwards, you will continue with the chocolate tour. On this 30 minute tour you will learn all about the world of chocolate. Besides learning about its history there is a hands-on element where you will participate in the chocolate making process.

Palo Verde National Park

Palo Verde is one of the most important and interesting National Parks in Costa Rica. It has at least 12 different habitats within the park including: mangroves, swamps, swamps forests, saltwater and freshwater lagoons and marshes. Watch the fabulous array of wild birds and a myriad of creatures such as howler monkeys, green iguanas and coatis, anteaters and crocodiles. The park provides shelter for a great variety of birds such as the American Woodstock, the Roseate Spoonbill, the Boat-billed Heron, the Tiger Heron and the Tropical Kingbird. This is a great tour for those who love nature and bird watching!

Costa Rica offers more then what is mentioned above: ziplining, mud baths, ATV’s, horseback riding, snorkeling, diving, and much more.

If you are a lover of nature or action and aventure, then Costa Rica is for you. Contact us today if you are ready to book your Costa RicaTrip.
