Did you know that nearly 40 percent of marriage proposals happen during what’s known as Engagement Season, which runs from Thanksgiving through Valentine’s Day? As we head into the final stretch, it is one of the busiest and most exciting times of the year in the honeymoon planning world.

This engagement season, I am seeing a wonderful mix of honeymoon styles. All-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico remain popular for their ease and relaxation, while island hopping in Hawaii and French Polynesia continues to be a dream choice for many couples. I have also seen an increase in requests for destinations like New Zealand and Costa Rica, especially from couples looking for adventure, nature, and something a bit different.

No two honeymoons should look the same, which is why I always start by getting to know the couple. Travel style, priorities, and budget all play a role in finding the right destination and resort. Not every location or property is the right fit for every couple, and that personalized approach makes all the difference.

For couples drawn to all-inclusive resorts, destinations like Cancun, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic offer easy flight options and a wide range of resort styles and budgets. Those looking for something more distinctive often gravitate toward islands such as St Lucia, Barbados, Antigua, or Curaçao. In Europe, Italy, Greece, Ireland, and Switzerland continue to be honeymoon favorites, especially for couples with more than a week to explore and soak in the culture, scenery, and unforgettable experiences.

If you know someone who recently got engaged and is beginning to think about their honeymoon, I would love an introduction. Please feel free to share my contact information, and remind them to mention your name. I always enjoy thanking clients who send referrals my way.

Should you be planning your trip now?

One of the most common questions I get is “How far in advance should I book?” The answer depends on the type of trip you’re planning. Here’s a helpful general timeline to keep in mind:

Guided Tours: Best booked 1–2 years in advance, especially for popular destinations or peak travel seasons. This allows for the best availability, preferred tour dates, and often better pricing.

Alaska Cruise Tours: Plan to book 1–2 years ahead. Alaska has a shorter season and high demand, and the most desirable itineraries and balcony staterooms sell out early.

Independent International Travel: Ideal booking window is 10–12 months in advance. This gives us time to secure flights, preferred hotels, and build a well paced itinerary without feeling rushed.

Caribbean Travel: Also best planned 10–12 months in advance, particularly for spring break, holidays, and popular resorts where availability can disappear quickly.

Planning ahead not only gives you more choices, it also creates a smoother, more enjoyable experience from start to finish. If you have a destination in mind, even if it feels far away, it’s never too early to start the conversation.

Destination Highlight: Bora Bora – The Ultimate Romantic Escape

Bora Bora is the definition of paradise, known for its brilliant turquoise lagoon, dramatic volcanic peaks, and world-famous overwater bungalows. Located in French Polynesia, this island delivers unmatched beauty and serenity, making it one of the most sought-after destinations for honeymoons, anniversaries, and once-in-a-lifetime journeys. Couples can wake to panoramic lagoon views, enjoy private decks with direct water access, and spend their days snorkeling, paddleboarding, or simply relaxing beneath swaying palms. Every detail is designed to create an atmosphere of effortless luxury and romance.

Beyond its iconic scenery, Bora Bora offers unforgettable experiences, from sunset lagoon cruises and private beach picnics to spa treatments inspired by Polynesian traditions. Crystal-clear waters invite guests to swim with tropical fish and rays, while Mount Otemanu provides a dramatic backdrop for scenic hikes and boat excursions. With impeccable service, exquisite dining, and breathtaking natural surroundings, Bora Bora remains the gold standard for romantic travel. It is a destination that transforms special trips into lifelong memories.
