February 2026 Newsletter
Let’s talk about Alaska cruises. I truly fell in love with Alaska when I experienced my own cruise and land tour a couple of years ago, and it remains one of the most unforgettable trips I have ever taken. From standing in awe at Mendenhall Glacier to watching whales bubble net feed, visiting a bald eagle and raptor sanctuary, riding the White Pass Rail in Gold Rush country, sailing through Glacier Bay National Park, and spotting wildlife on safari in Denali National Park, Alaska delivers jaw dropping moments at every turn. It is a destination that stays with you long after you return home.
Alaska is also one of the most popular cruise destinations, especially for first time cruisers. Nearly seventy percent of first time cruise guests choose Alaska, and it is easy to see why. Alaska cruises are perfect for families, couples, and multigenerational groups who want incredible scenery, meaningful experiences, and unforgettable wildlife encounters all in one trip.
There is also a wide variety of shore excursions available, from scenic train rides to glacier walks and wildlife adventures. I have detailed many of these experiences by port on my blog if you want to explore what each stop has to offer.
Balcony staterooms are especially important in Alaska since many of the most memorable sights, including glaciers, sea lions, and otters, can be enjoyed right from your cabin. The cruise season is shorter, typically running from April through September, which means demand is high and space is limited.
Alaska cruises often book a year or more in advance, and balcony staterooms are always the first to sell out. While many travelers are just starting to think about Alaska for the future, now is the perfect time to begin planning for Alaska 2027. If an Alaska cruise is on your wish list, let’s start the conversation early so you have the best choice of ships, itineraries, and staterooms.
Out of the Office: March 8–23, 2026
I will be attending the American Society of Travel Advisors River Cruise Expo in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The ASTA River Cruise Expo, held March 11–15, 2026, brings together top river cruise lines and travel professionals for in-depth education, ship inspections (16 of them), and valuable industry networking. This event offers the opportunity to experience multiple river cruise ships firsthand while learning directly from industry leaders, ensuring I return with current knowledge and stronger partnerships to better serve my clients.
Following the conference, I will participate in a hands-on sailing in Germany aboard the Emerald Luna from March 15–20, 2026. This experience allows me to step fully into the role of a client and understand every detail of the onboard experience, from accommodations and dining to excursions and service. Firsthand knowledge matters when recommending river cruises, and I look forward to bringing back thoughtful insights to help guide your future travels.
While I will not be completing new quotes during these dates, I will remain available to clients actively traveling and will finalize any existing quotes before departure.
I look forward to sharing updates throughout my time in Europe on the Visas and Vistas Travel Facebook page, and I invite you to follow along.
Destination Highlight: Ireland – Timeless Landscapes and Warm Welcomes
Ireland captures the heart with its rolling green countryside, dramatic coastal cliffs, and storybook villages. From the lively streets of Dublin to the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher and the scenic Ring of Kerry, every region offers its own distinct charm. Travelers can explore ancient castles, walk along windswept beaches, and drive quiet country roads framed by stone walls and grazing sheep. Whether tracing family roots or discovering the country for the first time, Ireland offers an authentic experience grounded in history and tradition.
Beyond its landscapes, Ireland is known for its music, literature, and welcoming spirit. Cozy pubs come alive with traditional sessions, while farm-to-table dining and fresh Atlantic seafood showcase the country’s culinary evolution. Boutique manor houses, countryside estates, and charming inns provide comfortable stays rich in character. Ireland is perfect for couples, families, and small groups seeking meaningful travel, scenic drives, and genuine connection. It is a destination that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly alive.
