Best Destinations by Month

People often ask “When is the best time to visit XXX?” While many destinations can be visited year round, there is always the most desireable time to go. This may mean visiting the area right before or after peak travel season for that area.

January- Antarctica

November- Feburary

In January, it's the height of summer with temperatures averaging 43 degrees F and generally stable weather, with plenty of sunshine and blue skies. Penguin chicks are at their fluffiest, humpback whales are in full force, and leopard seals are are everywhere!

February- Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat is a Hindu temple complex in Cambodia and is the largest religious monument in the world. It was originally constructed as a Hindu temple but gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple towards the end of the 12th century. The weather in Cambodia is always quite warm, but February is still a bit more milder than the summer months.

March- Northern Lights

March or October

The possibilities are endless as to where you can visit to see the Northern Lights. You can see the Northern Lights in Alaska, Canada, Iceland, Scotland, Norway, Finland, Sweden.

April- Japan

Early April is a great time to see the Cherry Blossoms bloom. The country is full of the different shades of pink flowers. While you are there enjoy the culture and food.

May- Greece

May or September

May is a great month for cooler weather and blue skies. The beaches are beginning to get a bit warmer. The Mykonos isn’t over run by tourist yet.

June- United Kingdom

May- September

By June the weather is starting to get a bit warmer and more pleasant. There is so much to see and do throughout the country that any type of traveler could have a good time. From Museums to Shopping to Cultural sites. If your a Harry Potter fan you won’t want to miss the studio tour in London.

July- Alaska Cruise

June- August

On your cruise to Alaska, you can explore the Inside Passage, Glacier Bay National Park and all Alaska has to offer. Don’t forget to add a land tour by visiting Denali National Park.

August- Argentina

The weather in Argentina is sunny and mild. Warm enough to enjoy your days outside. This is also a great time to explore Iguazú Falls, the largest waterfall system in the world, straddling the border of Brazil and Argentina

September- Kenya and Tanzania

The Great Migration happens year round in different areas of Africa. In September, the herds will cross over from the northern border of Serengeti National Park into the Maasai Mara Reserve. Anytime you are on a safari you are sure to spot your favorite animals.

October- Italy

May or October

Italy can get very hot and crowded in the summer. Plan your visit in October where crowds how thinned out and the weather is more manageable. Check out the Colosseum, Pompeii, Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the canals of Venice. Enjoy the vineyards in Tuscany or just enjoy an Aperol Spritz in an outdoor cafe.

November- Machu Picchu

November is the shoulder season for the rainy months in Machu Picchu. Visiting now will give you sunny days with a chance of rain but will have limited visitors in the area. It might almost feel like you have the ruins to yourself. Grab a bite to eat at the Treehouse.

December- Germany or Austria

Europe knows how to celebrate the Christmas Holiday. The weeks leading up to Christmas cities will set up markets in the streets displaying Christmas goodies and gifts. The best way to visit multiple markets? A river cruise.
