One of the questions I’m asked most often is how far in advance you should be planning your trips. The answer really depends on the type of travel you have in mind, but overall, I am seeing more and more value in planning earlier rather than later. It allows for better availability, more thoughtful planning, and a much smoother experience from start to finish.
For guided tours and Alaska cruise tours, I typically recommend starting the process one to two years in advance. These trips are incredibly popular, and with Alaska’s shorter season and limited space on tours, the best options tend to book quickly. Planning early ensures you have access to the ideal itinerary, dates, and accommodations.
For independent international travel and Caribbean vacations, a timeline of about ten to twelve months in advance is ideal. This gives us the time to secure the best flights, preferred hotels or resorts, and build an itinerary that feels well paced and personalized. It also helps avoid the stress of limited availability, especially around peak travel times like spring break and holidays.
If you have a destination in mind, even if it feels far away, it is never too early to start the conversation. Thoughtful planning is what turns a good trip into a truly memorable one, and I am always here to help guide you every step of the way.
Out of the Office: May 2-25, 2026
I am off on another "Travel with Anne" group trip. This time we are headed to Africa! We will be exploring Table Mountain, diving with sharks (not this girl), drinking wine in the Cape Winelands, and experiencing Safaris in Kruger National Park and other smaller reserves in South Africa. We will also be visiting Victoria falls and experiencing a Safari on the Chobe River in Zimbabwe and Botswana. Everything about this trip will be exciting!
While I will not be completing new quotes during these dates, I will remain available to clients actively traveling and they have the appropriate contact information. I will have extremely limited access to emails and phone calls.
