Tasmania
After spending a few days in Sydney we headed south to Tasmania in hopes to see the Southern Lights. Spoiler alert: we didn't see them. It was cloudy at night and it was a full moon. However, we still enjoyed our time relaxing and sightseeing. We had a beautiful place to stay on top of a cliff looking into the ocean. Everyday there were surfers out enjoying the waves.
We decided to enjoy the wine country instead. We created our own wine tour and spend the day outside drinking and eating. Our favorite activity. We picked out top three and set of to Pooley wines, Puddleduck Vineyards, and Riversdale Estates Winery.
Tasmania had field after field of lavender. We stopped at a few small businesses to check out their fields and stores. They sold everything from essential oils to teas to soaps to ice creams.
Port Arthur is a town and former convict settlement in Tasmania, Australia. These sites, including Port Arthur, are described by UNESCO as "...the best surviving examples of large-scale convict transportation and the colonial expansion of European powers through the presence and labour of convicts." We joined a tour and spent hours exploring all the buildings and took a boat ride around to each island that also housed prisoners.
