Argentina- Iguazu Falls
Iguazu Falls is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Iguazu National Park in Argentina is one of the world’s largest and most incredible waterfalls in the world and has more than 270 falls. The national park has numerous trails to hike and see the falls from a number of vantage points; from above, below, and straight on.
We stayed right in the national park at the The Melia Iguazu Hotel (It was The Sheraton when we were there). From our balcony room you could see and hear the falls.
A few steps outside and we had access to a number of trails that would take you all over the park. We hiked every single one of them on the three days we were there. I was impressed how many trails there were and the different viewing areas.
We only visited the falls from the Argentina side but did get up close to them in a boat ride under the falls. You might wonder how close you get. Close enough to get wet.
Brazil is now on my list of countries to visit now that the cost of visas have been lowered significantly.
One of the best things about traveling is meeting new people. Sometimes you meet people and find out you are closer than the six degrees to Kevin Bacon. While waiting for the train from the Devil’s Throat to the Central Station we met three girls. We started chatting and they began telling us about their travels. They too were on a world tour together. We began comparing notes and suggestions. They had been blogging and instagramming their travels like we were. We exchanged info and they had already heard of our website! Their friend Brian had told them about us and our blog. We quickly put it together that their friend Brian was Tim’s old roommate in college. You can run into anyone, anywhere.
If Argentina is on your travel list, this is a must do stop. You only need a few days to explore the area. If you are visiting Buenos Aires it is a great stop to add on 2 or 3 days. I am glad we made this a priority during our travels. Let us know how we can help plan your trip to Iguazu Falls.
