What to Do in Cabo San Lucas
We don't talk much about the west side of Mexico, but this week Anne is on her way to visit Cabo San Lucas. That means there will be a number of posts about the activities she participates in and the resorts she visits. As she is planning her trip, which of these activities should she do first?
Cabo San Lucas Arch Boat Tour
The arch of Cabo San Lucas, is a distinctive rock formation at the southern tip of Cabo San Lucas, which is itself the extreme southern end of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula. Visit the arch by boat and see fish in the crystal clear water as well as a sea lion colony. Most tours then take you to Divorce Beach or Lovers Beach depending on how calm the waters are.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling is a great activity to enjoy some of the most beautiful bays and beaches in Baja California Sur. Especially during the summer month when the water is warm. You will have the opportunity to see many different species of fish in the water, among them: various types of angel fish, puffer fish, moorish idols, sea lions, dolphins, mantas, eagle rays and many more.
Whale Shark Snorkeling
Head to La Paz during whale shark season, from October till March, and snorkel with whale sharks. La Paz Bay is a unique sheltered bay and a place where the whale sharks are known to arrive annually to feed. Jump in the water with your go pro to experience a once in a lifetime snorkel.
Whale Watching
Every year the greatest creatures on earth travel south all the way from Alaska's Bering Sea to find the proper water temperature for procreation. Whale watching season starts in January and ends in April. Gray Whale Watching at Los Cabos is a sight to see! Humpback whales are also plentiful.
Private Sailboat Tour
Cruise aboard a private sailboat for just you and your group into the Sea of Cortes. Enjoy great photo opportunities as you pass by the famous Arch, Land's End and Sea Lion Colony before you head out of the bay. Visit a secluded bay where you can take a dip in the ocean, snorkel in the warm waters or try your hand at stand up paddle-boarding. Back on board, enjoy a delicious lunch including salsas, pasta, Baja style ceviche and more. Accompany your meal with an unlimited open bar as you admire the wonderful views of the Sea of Cortes and the bay. Travel in style!
