VIP Airport Service- Dominican Republic
This was our first time in the Dominican Republic and we weren’t sure what to expect at the airport. Since travel is a bit lighter these days I was hoping that the lines for immigration would be shorter. However, after talking to my fellow travel agents who had recently travelled to the area, they stated that things were back to normal. Lines were already getting longer and the wait was sometimes an hour or two depending on how many planes arrive at one time. It was decided then that we were going to need VIP arrival service.
When we landed in Punta Cana we noticed there was about a half a dozen planes parked, with one or two planes unloading passengers. This means we would be sharing the immigration line with 500+ other passengers. We were glad we decided to purchase the VIP arrival service.
Once the plane was parked, a rolling staircase was pushed up against the plane for unloading. Once you were off the plane you board a bus that takes you to the terminal for immigration processing (this isn’t always the case as some planes will us a jet bridge at the terminal). We did not get on the bus as there was a VIP arrival service representative holding a sign with our name on it. She lead us to a waiting golf cart. There was no waiting for the bus to fill up and travel across the tarmac.
After about a one minute ride, we were let off at the VIP arrival lounge. We were given a drink and a place to relax while our representative took our passports and immigration forms through the line for us. We just sat back and waited for her to return. The process was so quick that I didn’t even get to finish my water before she returned and told us we were free to head to our transfer. The whole process took no more than 10 minutes.
Here is what you get with VIP Arrival Service- $75.00 per person- worth every penny!
Expert greeters will meet you at the aircraft or Jet Bridge.
Expedited airport fast track through immigration and customs.
Escort you to your preferred transportation at the airport VIP Parking.
Since our departure day was promising to be a busy one, we had 3 site inspections that morning, we decided to add on the VIP Departure Service as well. We wanted a nice place where we could clean up, change clothes, and relax in a comfortable environment.
When we arrived at the airport we were dropped off at the airport VIP reception lounge. We were greeted by a representative who helped us fill out our exit custom forms. She then escorted us through our airline check in and immigration. We were taken through the priority line for both of these processes. Once through immigration, she took us to the lounge to relax. A quick and easy process.
Here is what you get with VIP Departure Service- $125.00 per person
Expert greeters will meet you at the VIP Reception of your terminal, to complete any departing forms required by our local entities.
Escort you through airline check-in, Security fast-track, immigration.
Access to VIP Lounge.
I will note that the lines for both the airline and immigration were very short. In this instance we didn’t need the added VIP departure service. However, you never know how busy the airport is going to be until you arrive. You can also just add on the VIP Lounge Access. Currently it is $50 per person or $25 per person if you have an American Express Credit card. In the future, I think I will just add the lounge access once I arrive.
Similar VIP arrival and departure service is also available in Jamaica.
