Do you plan to take a domestic flight after May 7, 2025? If so, now is the time to make sure your ID is domestic air travel compliant. Beginning May 7, 2025, every air traveler 18 years of age and older will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, state-issued enhanced driver’s license, or another acceptable form of ID (see the full list here) to fly within the United States. Passports are still needed for international travel.
Passed by Congress in 2005, the REAL ID Act enacted the 9/11 Commission's recommendation that the federal government “set standards for the issuance of sources of identification, such as driver's licenses.” The Act and implementing regulations establish minimum security standards for state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards and prohibit federal agencies, like TSA, from accepting licenses and identification cards from states that do not meet these standards for official purposes, such as getting through the airport security checkpoint to board a plane.
REAL ID-compliant cards are marked with a star at the top of the card. If you’re not sure if you have the correct ID, contact your state driver’s license agency on how to obtain a REAL ID compliant card. For information by state, including where to obtain a REAL ID, visit the DHS REAL ID website and click your state on the map.
Now is the time to pull your ID from your wallet and make sure your ID is REAL ID compliant. No one want’s to get to the airport and not have the appropriate travel documents. Passports can also be used for domestic travel if you don't have a Real ID.
April starts my busy personal travel season. This week I will be heading to Florida for a mastermind retreat where I will be connecting with a few preferred suppliers, collaborating with travel professionals, and learning from others.
I will be out of the office from April 4-7, 2025. While I won't be completing new quotes during these dates, I will be available to my traveling clients.
At the end of the month I am heading to Croatia with a friend. While I have visited the coast of Croatia a few years ago, this trip will focus inland with the highlight stop of Plitvice Lakes National Park. I will also be spending a few nights at a resort on Havar Island.
I also decided to add on 5 nights in Switzerland after Croatia. I often travel with others or meet friends in destinations, but this will be the first time I will be traveling solo for an extended period of time. I am excited for this solo adventure to experience Zurich, Rhine Falls, Jungfraujoch, Mt Pilatus, and Lucerne.
